Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Science
in Commerce from the University of Virginia, McIntire
School of Commerce with minors in International
Relations and Asian Studies in 1990, a Masters
of Business Administration from the University
of Southern California, Marshall School of Business
in 1997 and a Juris Doctorate from the University
of Virginia School of Law in 2001.
After earning his Bachelor of Science degree,
Michael served with the United States Marine Corps
in the field of Air Traffic Control and Airfield
Operations Officer from 1991 to 1998. His service
with the Marine Corps gives him a unique understanding
of certain land use issues affecting Hampton Roads,
including Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)
and Aircraft Noise Zones (AICUZ).
Michael began his legal career with Covington
& Burling in Washington, DC in 2002, where
he practiced in the areas of Employment Agreements
and Employee Benefit Plans. In 2004 as a Major
in the United States Marine Corps, Michael served
with the U.S. Joint Forces Command and NATO, Office
of the Political Advisor in Norfolk, Virginia.
Michael joined the Virginia Beach office of Troutman
Sanders, as an associate, in 2005 and focused
his practice in issues relating to zoning, land
use, commercial development and real estate investments.
In 2008, Michael joined Sykes, Bourdon, Ahern
& Levy, P.C. where his practice areas include
issues relating to zoning, land use, commercial
and residential real estate closings and foreclosure
and bankruptcy.
Michael is admitted to practice in Virginia, District
of Columbia, U.S. District Court for the Eastern
District of Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Fourth Circuit |
