PRACTICE OVERVIEW:
Ms. Oram-Smith has concentrated her
practice in the area of family law,
including but not limited to, divorce,
custody, child support and collections,
juvenile and domestic relations, and
guardianship cases as well as social
security disability.
EXPERIENCE:
Ms. Oram-Smith has practiced law for
over fourteen years and has been representing
clients in the Tidewater area for
over 12 years having served the community
as a staff attorney with the Virginia
Beach office of the Tidewater Legal
Aid Society for four years prior to
joining the firm of Sykes, Carnes,
Bourdon & Ahern, P.C. in 1993.
Ms. Oram-Smith is certified by the
Virginia Supreme Court to serve as
Guardian ad Litem for children in
custody and adoption cases and for
adults alleged to be incapacitated
in guardianship cases.
Having submitted drafts for legislative
changes which were implemented allowing
greater access to the Courts for custodial
parents receiving services through
the Division of Child Support Enforcement,
Ms. Oram-Smith currently represents
the Virginia Department of Child Support
Enforcement under a contract for establishment
and enforcement of child support obligations
in the City of Virginia Beach.
EDUCATION; BAR ADMISSIONS:
Ms. Oram-Smith graduated magna cum
laude, Phi Kappa Phi, with a Bachelor
of Science Degree from West Virginia
University and her Law Degree from
the West Virginia University School
of Law. She is admitted to practice
before the Bar of Virginia; U.S. District
Court, Eastern District of Virginia
and U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth
Circuit.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
Ms. Oram-Smith is a member of the
Virginia State Bar; the Virginia Bar
Association, Norfolk-Portsmouth and
Virginia Beach Bar Associations; Virginia
Trial Lawyers Association and the
Hampton Roads Family Law Organization.
